At Kevin Matthews and Ruth Howard's 5th wedding anniversary celebration, Sara Howard—Ruth's half-sister—showed up to steal Kevin. She pushed Ruth, causing her to miscarry, yet Kevin took Sara away first. After coming to her senses, Ruth asked for a divorce. Later, she burned all their shared memories and walked toward the sea. He tried to use Sara to force Ruth to appear, only to receive a notice to identify a body, left utterly confused.
